Group Level on DAP bug? limitation?

I'm having a problem with the Grouping Level feature on a data access
page. I have a list of about 700 employees that our HR department
will maintain data for. To do this, we have a Data Access Page with
Employee Information on it that is retrieved through a SQL database
view. Furthermore, we promoted the SSN as a Grouping Level. So, the
first thing the user must do is to select the SSN of the Employee they
wish to maintain data. After selecting the employee, the data is
shown for that employee. My problem, the Grouping Level drop down
list box will not show more than 300 records. I have finally been
able to validate this through much pain and suffering. Is there any
documentation out there anywhere to support that this is a known
limitation or bug? I'll need this info to "prove" to my Supervisor
that this indeed the problem. Any workarounds?

Thanks ahead of time for your time,

Dean
