Queries and columns

Just double-checking that Access cannot refer to the Column property
of a control inside of a query. Either the query refers to a hidden
text box that is used to echo the desired column, or the query must
call a function which reads the value in that column of the control?
Correct?

DFS
Correct (at least thru Access 2000).

And, of course, if your listBox or comboBox is already bound to the desired
column, you can reference the control in the query.
