Access 2000 with VB 6.0

P: n/a
Can someone tell if vb 6.0 is compatible with MS Access 2000. I put an
Access 2000 database in the properties box. When go to record source I get
an error message. This doesn't happen when I use Access97 database. I get
a list of tables.

Thanks

Search on that exact error message. You need the Jet 4.0 drivers in your references
and not the Jet 3.5 drivers.

This is addressed in Knowledge Base article 238401, but was updated in one
of the Service Packs to VB6. Access 97 (which uses Jet 3.51) was current
when VB6 was originally released; so you have to set appropriate references
to use the later Jet 4.0.

Strictly speaking, you are using a Jet database and the Jet database engine,
not "Access", although even Microsoft uses that shortcut description.

If you haven't applied all the Service Packs, you may have other undetected
problems -- so I'd suggest a visit to the Microsoft web site to determine
and obtain the Service Packs.
