VBE window switches between (Running) and (Code) when saving a form module

Hi

I have a database that works OK except in two regards, that I suspect
are related.

Problem 1. After even minor changes to a form module (ContactFrm),
such as editing a comment, I hit the save button and instead of a
quick save, the VBE window spends at least a minute jittering between
(Running) and (Code). By this I mean that you can see two alternative
messages in the title bar of the VBE window (ESG is the project name):

ESG - [Form_ContactFrm (Code)]

And

ESG - [Running] - [Form_ContactFrm (Code)]

The switch is very fast, and I may not have the #exact# message
displayed.

The problem does not seem to happen for other forms or modules, where
saves are as good as instantaneous.
Problem 2. When the database is installed, with the Back End on a
Server, etc, plus all the usual settings for multiuser scenarios, the
first user opens quickly, the second one takes around 5 minutes. The
front end IS installed on the users PC, NOT the server.

I have tried the decompile switch and importing all objects into a
blank mdb, but all to no avail.

Any suggestions are extremely welcome.

You don't specify what version of Access you're running, but this sounds
reminiscent of some of the problems with Access 2000 before SR-1.

Thanks your response.

The problem was solved when I found a combo on the form in question
that had a VERY badly written (by me!) sql string.

The poor load performance remains a problem.

Andrew
