Combo Box at Report Open Time

P: n/a
Apologies if this is an old chestnut, but I can't find an answer anywhere!

I have a form which has a button which opens a report. This all works
perfectly well. However, I am trying to set up a combo or list box, which
allows the user to select a word which will appear in the report. I will be
specific to help understand what I mean:

The database is for a kindergarten. The report lists all children in the
school, but is only usually run at the beginning each term. It is not worth
the complication of working out the term from dates etc, so the user simply
wants to be able to select "Spring", "Summer" or "Christmas" from a pop-up
list, at report generation time.

So, the desired behaviour is that user clicks the button on the main form to
generate the report. At that point, something pops up which asks the user
to select one of the three options for the term. The chosen option is then
included in the title, something like: "Report for the XXXXX Term".

I have tried to put a list box and combo box directly on the report, but
this doesn't allow the functionality at all...as you all probably know!

I'd be grateful for any ideas as to how I might do this. Whilst I can
program in C, C++ etc, I have no real knowledge of VB or VBA.

Thank you in advance,

Andy Parsons

What you want is possible with a little work and an extra form, but why does
the sequence need to go that way? Wouldn't it be easier and make more sense
to select the term option from the combo box -before- you click the button to
run the report?
