adp connection

Hi,

I have an ADP which is compiled to ADE and used on workstations
in runtime mode and connectes to sql server 2000.
Sometimes the connection from the client to the server breaks, for example
when the server reboots, but in other cases too.
For some reason, when it happens, the clients can't work anymore and the
connection is not resumed. Since their access runs in runtime mode, they
don't
even have the "connection" option under the "file" menu, so the only way
to continue working is to exit the application and run it again.
Is there a way to restore broken connections automatically ? Or maybe
another way to solve this issue ?

Thanks!

Set up a procedure that saves the CurrentProject.BaseConnectionString
to a global variable when your application first opens. Then set up a
CommandBar button or some other button that is easily available to the
user and that runs the OpenConnection method of the CurrentProject.
E.g.:

CurrentProject.OpenConnection g_strBaseConnString

Where g_strBaseConnString holds the value of the
CurrentProject.BaseConnectionString when the project opened. This
assumes that this string is correct when the project first opens.

Then whenever the connection fails, the user clicks this button & the
db connection is re-established.
