yes my access 97 data looks the same. after i imported the access 97
data into my xp access database, the data looks fine, it isn't until
the user starts using the system that every now and then the record
they are on will change to japanese characters. here is a field with
some japanese characters after it changed:
〳W俾摲牥摥, here is what was in
the field before it changed,
2/12/04 MB. I dont think you are going to be able to see the japanese
characters i just pasted into this message.

Does the data still look correct in the 97 database? Could you give a sample
of the data, before and after?

news:57*************************@posting.google.co m... I recently created a new database in Access 2002. I took data from an
access 97 database converted one of the tables to access 2002 and then
imported it into a new table in access 2002. but for some strange
reason, every once in a while the data changes to Japanese characters,
it only happens once in a while, but once it happens that record is
lost. i have tried everything compacting, importing to a new
database, new table...What is causing this strange behavior?
