Security Issues In a Multiuser Environment

P: n/a
hi all,

Thank you for trying to help.

I am a newbie to access and trying to learn by creating a database. My
Question is,

Is it possible to have seperate mdw files for several different access
files. My hypothetical situation would be like, to create different
user groups and differnt users for each access file and no security at
all for some files. This would require the logon dialog box not to
show up on some files and show up on some files. If possible, how can
i do it. I am not sure if i am trying to explain it right. Sorry about
it..

Also how would this work if the file is on a server..

Thanks a ton, Matt.

Yes.

You can use different MDW files containing the some or all of the same users
and groups, and with different passwords set on the same users in different
MDWs. To have an MDW that always causes Access to ask for a name and
password, there must be a password for the Admin user in that MDW.

To add the same user or the same group to multiple MDWs, it must be created
with the same name and the same ID string in each MDW.

Download the security FAQ. The answers should be in there.
