Backwards Conversion

Folks

I bow to your superb knowledge of Access. I need you help! Please, please!

I am running Access 2002 and have an application that is basically a name
and address file with a few bells and whistles. It doesn't have any VB code.
I need to use the Access 2002 built-in tool to convert the application back
to Access 97 so that another person can use the database. When I do so the
conversion fails and says that the proposed file name is invalid, but in
fact that file name that it says is invalid (a name that it once was) is not
the name that I proposed be used.

Am I doing something wrong? I have done a search of the MS knowledge base
and there doesn't seem to be anything relevant.

Thanks in anticipation
Cheers

Maurice, there seems to be some kind of naming clash within your
application.

Press Ctrl+G to open the Immediate window.
On the tools menu under Options, you will see an item called
xxxx Properties
where xxxx is currently the internal name for the project.
Choose that option, and try renaming it.

If that does not work, try Compile on the Debug menu, and see if you can
identify the naming clash.

It would also be worth compacting.
From the main Database window: Tools | Database Utilities | Compact.

Thanks for your input, I tried all of your recommendations, however, none of
them worked.

But, I did crack the problem as follows:

In the "Tables" Section I had a link to an external table and it was that
link that caused the problem. When Access told me that I had a problem with
the filename it was referencing the name of the linked table. I used the
Linked Table Manager to "refresh" and then deleted the link, thereafter the
Convert to v1997 worked like a charm.
