401K Account Fees

I was talking to a couple guys at one of the hospitals I consult with, and
they indicated their 401K is charging them $8 per quarter and .0875% based
on the value in their accounts at the end of the quarter. This is 35 basis
points per year and is on top of the mutual fund fees. How do these fees
compare to other 401K plans? My wife has a 403(b), and she was charged I
think $10 per year if the account balance is under $10K plus the mutual fund
fees.

I just have a couple of IRAs, SEP and Roth, and a broker account, so I
couldn't tell him. It seems very high to me.

Thanks.

Never heard of such a thing. There should be no fees whatsoever in a 401(k)
plan. It's supposed to be an employee "benefit." Must be some new
cheap-ass employer trick.
