Hints to speed up 1 form

P: n/a
Hello,

I'm building a database in which is a form with the following elements:
- 19 textfields
- 6 comboboxes (with small amount of data, mostly below 10 records)
- 1 listbox
- 1 subform (also relative small)
- 6 lines (boxes)
- 1 picturebox (no picture in the database, but it shows a picture on the
local disk)

When opening the form it takes about 15 seconds to open the form, which I
think is very strange. In my recognision I developed forms with more data,
which worked quicker. I wonder what makes the form slow??????

Also once i've open the page in design view, it opens the form always very
quickly after that (till Access closes).

Has anyone any ideas to bypass this problem (i thougt about opening the form
at the splash screen at start up). The data in the table that is below the
form is not very big (200 records). And I think some other forms in this
database also are slower than they used to be.

Any help or hints are welkomed

Thanx,

Turn off the track name autocorrect stuff.

You don't mention if you are running a split arrangement, and also did not
mention if you are working with a network (lots of details left out).

however, for a check to list things to watch out for, and get your
performance back, check out:

Me too. Want us to guess ... ?

OK ... my first guess is:
an UGLEEE record source ...
what's the record source ...
if it's a query ... please tell us the SQL

second guess:
the picture is huge or in some format that requires Access to search around
for a way of handling it
so ... what's the size and format of the picture

third guess:
some code gaffe
could we see the code behind the form
perhaps there is some loop that is looping a lot more than you intended ...
or whatever

fourth guess ... oh I forgot ... we get only three guesses!
