why is visual foxpro 8 much more expensive than access 2003?

the full version of access 2003 cost about $250, whereas the full version
of vfp8 cost about $500+. database newbie here, and rather confused.

Visual FoxPro is an Object Oriented development tool focused on application
developers. Access is a desktop productivity app that also happens to be an
excellent application development tool. Now, look up the price for the Access
Developer edition.

I don't there is there any difference in cost if you are talking about the
developer edition of office.

Also, ms-access is a lot more popular then VFP, so likely can be priced
cheaper.

However, when you compare the developer edition of office/ms-access, then I
think VFP is actually cheaper...
