Longing to be like Oracle ...

I have been imitating the pop-up selection form in Oracle Forms &
Reports to replace Access combobox

Imagine in the Order detail subform, users need to select products.

Instead of selecting from the combo, they will double-click a textbox,
a selection form pops up, they browse to the desired row, then
double-click or Enter to select.

In the selection form header, I also put several search textboxes that
requery the form when user key in some criteria and press Enter

Of course in the source query for the form, I need to put criteria
like this in respective fields:
Like "*" & Forms!frmSelection!txtCriteria... & "*" Or Is Null

The problem that I could not find a solution yet is the "Or Is Null"
part

With "Or Is Null" the search returns rows with Null in search fields -
which is not desirable. It should ideally returns exact matches.

Without "Or Is Null" the list omits rows with Null in search fields
when none of search fields have any criteria.

The solution of having 2 queries, one with "Or Is Null" for searches
and one without "Or Is Null" for a full list (when no criteria) works
well when there is only 1 search field but not with several search
fields.

Anyone having come to this before can give some suggestion?
