Common Dialog assistance in the Online Help Files

Re: Access 2000

Has anyone been able to find information in the online help on the
topic of "Common Dialog Control?
If so, what did you type in your search to receive the information?
I've been typing in lots and lots of different keywords, all to no
avail.

I was needing assistance setting up a common dialog control in my app.
I got the help I needed, but wanted to toss this to the group at large
to see if I was missing something here.

Thanks,

RLN

You'll find that the general consensus on Access 2000 help is that is
basically worthless.

Also, there are a lot of issues to consider when using the common dialog
control ... most have abandoned it in favor of the very simple and easy to
use code module at http://www.mvps.org/access/api/api0001.htm

There could, likely will, be lots of version problems when you go to distribute the
common dialog OCX.. Instead use the common dialog API calls as documented at the
Access Web at www.mvps.org/access or at "ACC97: How to Use the Common Dialog API in
an Access Database" [Q303066] at the Knowledge Base at support.microsoft.com.

If you mean within the Access Help files, there isn't much. I have however
come across a common opinon (I kind of share it) that it's better to use the
API. You'll need to distribute the Common Dialog Controls where as code
using API does not require any extra files.
