Locked table, err 3197

I have an Access 2000 database I use together with one other person.
As I try to append new records to a table using a standard jet SQL
INSERT INTO statement I get error 3197, another user is trying to
change the same data at the same time as I am. This is not true, she
is not here today. I fear my table (maybe my database) is corrupted
(appending to a copy of the table does not work, nor does appending to
a newly built copy of the table with empty fields).

Any ideas on the root cause of the problem? Any suggestions on how to
release the lock and free the table to insert new records?

thanks

Got it, and thanks Tony, got your website bookmarked. Yes indeed I
have memmo fields with junk data in them. I guess I have to look into
tuneing up my recordset locks.
