Text Files

I am a semi-beginner, I can use Access to build applications using all
the access environment with macros. I have some expereince of VB6 but
none of VBA.

I am working on a project that initially is for machines with Access
on htem but which I would like to distribute to users who may not have
Access.

The system should import comma delimited ASCII files from a removable
drive taken from remote sensors into a table do some analysis and then
save the data to a new table (with extra name) in a different database
for archiving.

I can do it manually using the wizards but don't know how to go about
it in VBA.

You could create an "Import Specification" - it's in the advanced
options when importing a text file. Then you can use that spec over
and over again, for example from the TransferText action.

Regarding your VBA knowledge, are you asking us to email you a few
ounces of it? :-) Seems to me you have some choices to make: learn
it, pay someone else, or abandon it.

Thanks for that Tom, I just needed a point in the right direction - I'm
learning fast!
