forgot my password

Ini
Hi,

I forgot my password for an Access-database. Is there any way to open it or
export structure and / or data? I'm using Access97.

Thanks

Is it the database password or a user-level security account password? If
it's the former then there's a utility which will crack it which is widely
available on the net (a Google search might find it, failing that, e-mail
me via my web site). If it's the latter I think you may be snookered.

Regards,
Keith.

You need a tool to do the trick. Search in Google for Passware it's a real
killer, you will never see your actual password, but it does open the db.

I wonder what Microsoft thinks about that tool. For $45 it obliterates all
MS Access security.

Perhaps that it is $45 more than it's worth?

You're talking about Access security being worth $0, of course.

Well, not exactly. I'm saying that desecuring tools for Access are
worth $0 because they are trivial and involve no real insight or
creativity. Whether a security model that can be destroyed by a tool
that's worth nothing implies that the security model itself is
worthless is a judgement I'll leave to you...<bg>

The fact that I can drag and drop a workgroup info file onto the Access Key
panel and magically see a list of Users, their groups and passwords... well
MS should be ashamed.
