Macro to update field in record

HI:
I have a drop down box on a form, which I am linking to a query on my client table,
producing two fields
client and
clientID (the record ID).

On a click on the appropriate record, I want to create a macro that will update a field in
another table (setup) with the client ID number. My problem is that I cant find the right
command to do this. I had recalled that something like:

set [tblsetup!clientID]=[qryclientname!clientID]

However it does not like it, and i cant find a command that will do the job. Anyone know
of the right way to do this from a drop down menu?

Regards
