Chart Dae Problem

I've created a Chart in Access97. It is a time function of a variable.
When the dates along the x axis are within the same year - no problem.
e.g.

Apr-03 May-03 Jun-03...........Dec-03.

However when I set a two year span I get bum results. For example if I
set the period to be Oct-2002 to March 2003, the x-axis becomes Oct-03
Nov-03 Dec-03 Jan-03 Feb-03 Mar-03. Yes the years are all 03.

When I open the underlying query the dates are in the proper order
..e.g
Oct 02
Nov 02
Dec 02
Jan 03
Feb 03
Mar 03

Yet when I open the Form with this query , the results are as noted
above - starting with the proper month but with 03 as the years for
all months.

If I set the underlying query date for format to "yyyy mm", the order
shown on the chart is correct - namely 2002-10 2002-11 2002-12
2003-01 2003-02 2003-03.

I need to have the dates correctly in the form Oct-02....Mar-03.
Can someone help me out of this situation??

thanx
