Help with Multi-user access online

Hello group, this is a repost that received no responses and has since
gotten burried::

I have two databases in a ssl folder on a web site. One is a shopping cart
database that facilitates all transactions. The other database is used to
modify product offering. One table in the Product database is typically
exported to the shopping cart database to update product offering. I have
only ever constructed databases with one user in mind, but I would like to
make this table (Product Record Table in the Product Database) accessible to
more than one data entry person. I have constructed a form for
user-friendliness. What do I need to do to make sure multi-person access can
be done without conflict?

Thanks,

Bruce

As a start, you can review the presentation on multiuser Access applications
that I gave for my user group in July 2000. You can download it, in
PowerPoint or Adobe PDF format, from
http://appdevissues.tripod.com/downloads.htm.

You'll find more details on multiuser Access databases at MVP Tony Toews'
site http://www.granite.ab.ca/accsmstr.htm.

After you review these, if you have specific questions, post them back here
or in the microsoft.public.access.multiuser newsgroup at news.microsoft.com.

Hello Larry,

Thanks for the information you provided to me. I viewed the PowerPoint and
will review the URL you suggested when I put out my latest fire. Possibly,
you might be able to assist me with this one. I want to strip away all
passwords and permissions on the database. If I have any on there, I did not
intend to place them on there. I have been experiencing problems which my
HSP has indicated may be do to passwords or permissions on my database. How
would I turn these off so that permissions and passwords are not required to
do anything on the database?

It is a small database (under 1MB). If you are willing to check it out, I
could e-mail a copy. It is in Access97 (and has to remain in this version
because that is the only version I have). Any assistance would be GREATLY
appreciated! Thanks in advance for any assistance you can
provide.

~Sincerely,
Bruce

[ I tried to attach a copy of the database, but it appears as though that
did not go through.]

You're welcome. I hope it helps.

It has been quite some time since I removed security from a database and I'd
rather not trust my memory on the details. As I recall, it was only a matter
of importing all the objects from the secured database into an unsecured,
new, empty database. For an authoritative answer, I'd ask this question in
the sponsored newsgroup microsoft.public.access.security -- you can get it
by pointing your news reader to news.microsoft.com.

I suspect, however, if you didn't purposely secure the database that it is
not secured, and there is some other explanation for the problems being
attributed to security.

No, I am sorry, I can't do that.

And that, BTW, is a _good_ thing, because it is considered impolite, at
best, to attach files to posts in technical discussion newsgroups. You'll
find that, and other good suggestions for effective use of newsgroups at
http://www.mvps.org/access/netiquette.htm.
