By sub-form do you mean a different form perhaps a popup or an
embedded form?
If you are actually opening a form with the same recordset then just
use the forms RecordsetClone to navigate to the same record.
DoCmd.OpenForm "frmMyForm"
Forms("frmMyForm").RecordsetClone.FindFirst "IDField=" & Me.IDField
Forms("frmMyForm").Bookmark = _
Forms("frmMyForm").RecordsetClone.Bookmark
If it is embedded then just do a requery of the subform control.

i like to use a main form that has read-only display and a sub-form that
uses the same table for editing the data. when clicking on the command
button that opens the sub-form the record that is displayed on the sub-form
goes back to the first record (not synched with the main form). how do i
synchronize the current record on the main form with the sub-form. thanks.
