Jet sp8 ... 7 ...6

tom
Hey All,

I'm wondering about Jet service packs. We develop (& sell) an Access
2002 application, and as part of the installation we update people to
jet SP6 if they are not already there. Well, now Jet SP8 is available,
but only for XP/2000. Jet service packs for other OS's (98, Me, NT)
are only at SP7. We try to keep up to date, as it doesn't seem healthy
to have people running our application with different versions of Jet,
and the latest service packs are often installed as part of Windows
Update.

SO:

* Is it kosher to have some machines (xp, 2000) at SP8 and the
others at SP7?
* I've heard of troubles with SP7, so should we be doing SP8/SP6?
* Will SP8 be made available for these other platforms (98, Me, NT)?

THANKS,
-Tom

The word on the Jet4SP8 update for other OSs is "soon". They needed to get it out for XP,
2000, & 2003 due to Access 2003.

As far as running in the mixed environment goes, you would have to test it to see if there
were any problems with your app. If not, then it should be fine.
