gif images

I'm writing a little access-application to distribuite in run-time
version.

In the test machine, that has the access run-time only, there is a
trouble with linked images (*gif or *jpg), while doesn't appear with
*bmp images:
access doesn't load the images and give this error advise:
[translated from italian version]
"the file format of 'filename.gif' is not supported or the file is
too big.
Try to convert the file in BMP or GIF format".

Thanks a lot who can help me.

Qualche idea a riguardo?

What type of Control are you using, OLE Frame or Image?

If you are using Image controls, the user must have installed the graphics
filters that come with Office or standalone MS Word. (And, you are not
licensed to re-distribute those, even if you license the Office Developer
Edition.)

If OLE Frame, you are "at the mercy" of whatever automation enabled imaging
software the user has installed and registered for the file format you are
using.

If you don't have control over the user environment, as in your company, you
may be better off to seek a third-party imaging control. I've had good
feedback on, but never used, ImageN from Pegasus Software -- I seem to
recall they had a free trial version that you could download in the past.
There are quite a number of others of varying sophistication and varying
price.

Gianluca,

The solution suggested by Stephen Lebans works very well, I might add.
Thanks again, Stephan.
