Hyperlink won't work

P: n/a
If I hand type in a hyperlink it works fine. If I use an update query
to enter in a link it doesn't work, despie the links being identical.

My code, where [inventory]![document number] is the name of the document
Im trying to link to.

"\\ddmisfp01\ddmigeneral$\Technical Documents\Specs\" &
[Inventory]![Document_Number] & ".pdf"

Produces this text in the link box

\\ddmisfp01\ddmigeneral$\Technical Documents\Specs\0000-44ES-1001.pdf

"IF" I hand type that line out it works. If I use the coding it
doesn't. Here is the really wierd part: if I make a minor change to the
update query and then change it back it magically starts to work. EG if
i delete the "f" on "pdf" and then type it back in, the link starts to
work. . . .
