Percentiles

P: n/a
Hi
My customer wants salary statistics for a number of similar organisations
expressed in percentiles something like the following:

Administrator Salary Total package
25 precentile $xxxxx $xxxxx
50 precentile $xxxxx $xxxxx
75 precentile $xxxxx $xxxxx
Average $xxxxx $xxxxx

Librarian Salary Total package
25 precentile $xxxxx $xxxxx
50 precentile $xxxxx $xxxxx
75 precentile $xxxxx $xxxxx
Average $xxxxx $xxxxx

Etc etc etc for numerous groups.

Any good ideas.

Ola Andy:

It's a little unclear what the comparisons are, but as a general suggestion
you might try using your Access database and data in a detail level query as
the source for an Excel Pivot table. Pivots kick hinder when trying to
complex analysis. You can present dynamic 'Percent of Row', 'Percent of
Column' and running totals as well as simple statistical analysis.
Depending on the source, you may also be able to define custom grouping
levels within columns.
