Splash Screens and News Ticker

P: n/a
Problem 1)

Any ideas on how I would get a splash screen to appear for a certain
amount of time when I open a database - it's to display a text based
disclaimer message.

I know about message boxes in VB but I don't my users having to click
on an OK buttone each time this appears.

Problem 2)

Any ideas how to create a news ticker within a form - I've tried using
the scrolling marquee within the pages section of MS Access but I
would really like my information held within a field in a table to
continuously move across the page.

Any help with these would be very much appreciated.

Bill, I can help you with item 1 only (this is for MS Access XP, similar for
earlier versions): Splash Screen.
1. If you already have a splash screen, open your Startup Menu from the
Tools menu in Access.
2. In the "Display Form/Page" window of the Starup Menu, enter the name of
the splash screen.
3. In the "On Timer" event in the properties of your splash screen, enter
this code:
Private Sub Form_Timer()
DoCmd.Close acForm, "The name of your splash screen"
DoCmd.OpenForm "SwitchBoard" 'If you do not have a switchboard,
enter the name of the form you want to open next.
End Sub
4. In the "Timer Interval" event in the properties for the splash screen,
enter "4000" without the quotes to start. Increase or decrease to suit
(i.e., 3000 or 5000).

That is it! Your splash screen should open for about 4 seconds, close, and
then automatically open the switchboard (if you have one).

Create a dialog form. Set its timer interval to the number of
milliseconds you want the form to stay visible. In the .OnTimer
event, open your next form, set TimerInterval to 0, then set the
form invisible.

Use the Timer events again. use an unbound textbox. load the
textbox from the table in the form's Oncurrent event.

The OnTimer event simply grabs the string, and moves the first
character to the end

me.scrollbox.value = mid(me.scrollbox.value,2) _
& left(me.scrollbox.value,1)
Any help with these would be very much appreciated.
