form delete event

Thank you Peter and Allen for your earlier responses.

My goal is to update a different table depending on what record is deleted
in my form. I now get the correct value but when I try to delete it says:
"Microsoft Jet Engine canceled the operation because you tried to change
data at the same time as another user."

How can I get around this problem? I am sitting on a stand alone computer...
