I want to do some automatic searching and linking of tables within several
databases that may move around or be renamed on a network system

I have seen some code snippets using TableDef Connect but when i try Dim
ATable As TableDef

I get message
user defined type not defined

what am i missing?

I am using Access 2k sr-1

What you are missing is a reference to the DAO library.

From any code window, choose References on the Tools menu.
Check the box beside:
Microsoft DAO 3.6 Library.
