Avoiding Form Autosave & Microsoft Error on Closing

1 New Member

I'm looking for help when it comes to how to stop a form from autosaving when it is closed and instead use a "save" and and an "exit" button. I've looked online and found tons of code that is supposed to help with this, but I am so code-illiterate that I have no idea what I need to modify in the code to apply it to my specific form.

I need a save button that saves, an exit button that exits without saving any changes, and I'd like to avoid the "You can't save this record at this time. Microsoft Access may have encountered an error while trying to save a record" message that comes up when trying to close with the X button.

I know that it'll be the BeforeUpdate event that needs coded but everything I've tried hasn't worked - one button will work and the other won't or I'll get the "you can't save..." message.

I'm so frustrated!!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hi all I have posted this problem before but am having no joy! I have an app written in Access 2000 which is based around a Form/Subform. The problem is with a new XP box only - the same app runs fine on all others. The subform is displaying the #Error symbol: closing and re opening it solves the problem. Compact/Repair doesn't work, creating a new database and importing the objects doesn't work either. Re creating the form worked...

I build a very simple program that I put at the end of this post. This program is just supposed to put a button on the screen and exit the program when I press the escape button. But pressing the escape button doesn't do anything if I put the code for the button into the program! infact, pressing escape only works if you take away the little piece of code: "this.Controls.Add(this.button1);"!! I was totally confused at why this happened...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it.
