Cannot open secured Access database

1 New Member
A user is having problem opening an Access database after installing Office 365. I tried to open my older test copy with Office 365 Access but go the message "You do not have the necessary permissions to use the 'G:CSS-IRM\Access Applications\La nduse.mdb'objec t. Have your system administrator or the person who created this object establish the appropriate permissions for you." I believe I was previously able to open the database but may be wrong. the original creator is long gone and I had our Domain administrator give administrative privileges to several users for the database. And made sure the database was Trusted. Still unable to open the database with the same message. I do see a system.mdw file. I opened it with Access I get Queries: MSysGroupList, Name column with Admins and Users; MySysGroupMembe rs, double click brings up a screen to enter a group name but not allowed; MSysUserList, Name column, with admin, Creator, Engine; MSysUserMembers hips,double click brings up a screen to enter a UserName but not allowed;
Need to know how I can get access to the database so can resolve user problem.

The ACC2003 and older databases used the system.mdw, or a custom dot-mdw file, to implement user level security.

You best option will be to open the database on a PC that has same version of access and the system.mdw used to create the database.

There are various methods of bypassing this basic level of security; however, we do not usually discuss this here because we're unable to verify that an individual is the rightful or authorized owner/user of the database.

Another issue you might run in to is the age of the database. Acc2013 will not open Acc97 and soon other MDB types files

Hi all. I have an application that I wrote ages ago - last compiled in 1998, I believe. It is still in occasional use. It uses an Access database - probably Access version 2, I think. I implemented a fairly simple security model on the database way back then. As far as I can recall, I removed all access from the default Admins group and so on, and defined a couple of new groups for administrators (me) and users (everyone else). The...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
