Wrong Primary Key in the linked table

1 New Member
I have an issue re primary key upon linking MS access 2000 to Oracle 10g.

I'm going to migrate to a new Oracle server. So I have to re-link the tables to the new server.
I have do the following steps
- create a new ODBC for the new server.
- Use get external data => linked table and then link to the Oracle table via ODBC.
After I link the table to Oracle via ODBC, the primary key on MS linked table is not the same with the primary key on Oracle table.
I have tried to use the Linked Table manager and tick on always prompt for new location. The result is still the same (primary key go to another table).
Could you please advise me how to change the primary key on the linked table or How to force the MS access to ask which PK for the table when I link the tables to Oracle.
Thank you,

My database is set up so people can input parts orders. Sometimes they order the same parts on a monthly basis. I want to be able to duplicate past parts orders and have it pasted in with a new primary key. My first attempt seemed to work(minus a few Microsoft glitches). I used a "duplicate" command button at first. This made a copy of the record but failed to bump up the primary key by 1 number(so it seemed). Actually, the number did...

Hi, Maybe I'm missing something with the DataKeyField attribute of a datagrid but it seems that it's somewhat limiting since this only allows you to specify one field as the key. I have a table that has two keys and it seems you need this value to find the corresponding record in the DataSet in order to update the data from the Datagrid.

Most of the reference books recommend autonum primary keys, but the Access help says that any unique keys will work. What are the tradeoffs? I have several tables that have unique fields. Can I use them as primary keys or should I define an autonum primary key? One table has information about the 50 states in the US. The table looks like this:

Hi, I am creating a table where I want to use the date as the primary key - and to automatically create a record for each working date (eg Mon to Fri) until 30 June 2007. Is this possible? I do not want my user to have to create a record for each date. Thanks,

I am interested in informed feedback on the use of Constraints, Primary Keys and Unique. The following SQL statement creates a Bands tables for a database of bookings Bands into Venues, where the rule of the business is that only band plays on the one night. The SQL statement prevents a Band name being repeated (as it is Unique). Similar statement for the Venues. CREATE TABLE Bands (BandID varchar(5) CONSTRAINT BandID PRIMARY KEY, Band...

Please help out a newbie. I've copied a complicated query and am trying to modify it for mailing labels. First, last name and primary address are the fields. Primary address would be either a home or work address. The prior query was made to list primary phone number of which the number was just one field (ex: 213-300-0000). However, the primary address would include street address, city, state and zip for a total of 4 fields. I receive...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
