Is it possible to use the DMax fn on multiple fields in multiple domains?

3 New Member
Hey. So the problem that I'm running into involves auto-numbering invoice numbers. My boss has 3 tables, 2 of which are only to temporarily store information, but when she goes to create a new invoice number, it doesn't take into consideration all three tables, and therefore she is getting repeat invoice numbers - a real nightmare.

To fix this, I want to code a DMax + 1 function instead of the autonumber, but I am running into the issue of trying to DMax from multiple fields across multiple domains. I've tried running a query with just the invoice numbers and that doesn't help. Is this possible?

Thanks

You should first consider to redesign the tables.
Only one "production " table with invoices would be the way to go to avoid dupes.

When you can indicate why there are two temp invoice tables, perhaps we can propose a solution.

Are you trying to retrieve a MAXIMUM Inv_ID Number as it relates to e separate Tables, and then increment it by 1? If you are you can let a simple Function do the work for you and return the appropriate Value for you.

I didn't think this would be as difficult as it now seems to me. I am reading in a csv file that documents a bunch of different info on about 200 books, such as title, author, publisher, isbn, date and several other bits of info too. I can do a simple sort over the first field (title as it turns out), and that is fine as far as it gets:

First off.. Thanks to Grant Wagner for help in a previous thread related to this one. I am at a total loss... I have multiple fields in a form with the same name. Lets call the fields with the same name "junk_array". My first field of junk_array is a input type=hidden. All the others fields in junk_array that follow are type=text. I can reference this first hidden field in IE with document.form.field.value. In, fact my form works...

I have worked for hours on trying to find a solution and have not figured it out. I am working in Access 2003. I need to create a query that takes values from 1 table and displays them in multiple fields. I don't have the option of changing the structure of the existing tables because I am importing them from a separate data source on a regular basis. I also need to use a query instead of a form because I then need to be able to export...

First off, let me say this is a great site! I've just started working with Access and much of my success is from what I've read here! Background: I have a form, driven off a single table. Goal: To have multiple fields copied and pasted into multiple records with a single button click. Work Done: In the form I have multiple fields, but for my question let's just refer to FIELD 1 and FIELD 2. I would like to copy the value of FIELD 2 and...

I have a Repeater that uses a DataSource that has multiple fields. When the values of these fields is displayed in the Repeater, there are fields that are used in combination with other fields as well as by themselves. For example, there may be a firstname field that is used in combination with a lastname field as well as by itself. Using it by itself is simple, I have done that many times. However, is there a way to use multiple fields in...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
