How to define the path to the linked tables in MS Access 2007

3 New Member
I have a database written in MS Access 2.O that i'm intend to convert to MS ACCESS 2007.
The database is a multiuser application which consist of a application database as the frontend and a Data Database as the backend. In my MS Access 2.0 program the code is present to make the link between the data database on the backend and the application database on the frontend. Both computers are part of a local network. I know that MS Access 2007 can arrange the splitting of my database in a data database and a application database, but how do we make the link from de frontend to the backend with code in MS Access 2007, as done in my M Access 2.0 version?
Is the following a better solution?
Put the datatables in a sql server database and make the connection from the application database to the data database in the sql server ?
What the connection looks like in this situation?

The easiest way to Link to an External Database with code is via the TransferDatabas e Method of the DoCmd Object. Sample code is posted below.
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. 'The following code dynamically Link to the tblTest Table in C:\Test\Test.mdb.
  2. 'It will be called tblTest_New within the Current Access Database.
  3. DoCmd.TransferDatabase acLink, "Microsoft Access", "C:\Test\Test.mdb", acTable, "tblTest", "tblTest_New"

I hope someone can help with this. I have a website using Access and ASP developed on my own PC (using PWS) and hosted on a commercial site. I decided that splitting the dbase up would be a good management tactic; it si easy to link from the main database and it works fine - on my own machine. Trouble is when I upload to the commercial...

I am building an Access 2002 frontend with linked tables to an encrypted Paradox 7 database. When I first create these linked tables, I'm asked for the password to the encrypted Paradox database, and the linked tables are successfully created. I use the data from these linked tables in several forms. All works great until I close the Access...

I'm running Access 2000 with a SQL 7 back end, using ODBC linked tables in an MDB file. The db is used by about 30 users on a LAN, and an additional 10 or so on a WAN. Recently, one of the WAN users complained of intermittently not being able to find certain customers in the customers table (contains around 40,000 records). There are...

My company's web application uses mySQL databases. I have linked these tables (Read only) into Access 2007 so I can create queries and reports. Now I need to extract some of the content from these linked tables so that I may do a mail merge into Word. Unfortunately, I find that many of the fields are being truncated. I tried importing the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...
