Screen Flicker With Access 2003 Under Vista

I've noticed some screen flicker when using Access 2003 under Vista
and I'm curious as to whether this is a bug or peculiar to my machine.

In design view, if I make changes to a form and then close the form, a
couple of seconds after I have OKed the save prompt the Database
Window that shows all my objects gives one flicker.

Once again, in design view if I change a property for a control in the
Properties box and then move the mouse cursor back to a control on the
form, mostly, but not always, the "Toolbox" toolbar will flicker a
couple of seconds after I move mouse focus back to the form.

I have my machine in a dual boot XP/Vista configuration and none of
the above problems manifest under XP.

Any comments or help is appreciated.

More info on this issue. The screen flicker problem is really obvious
in the "Relationsh ips" window. When the window is opened, 9 out of 10
times the tables will flicker once. Whenever a relationship is
changed the same flicker will occur.

This flicker issue only manifests when the "Windows Vista Basic" and
"Windows Standard" schemes are being used. When Aero is being used
the problem is not seen. I have found the cause to be the
Intellipoint 6 mouse software. I disabled it in Task Manager and the
problem stopped, then enabled it again and the problem reappeared.
I've now uninstalled it altogether.

Every new release of Intellipoint seems to have issues and this one is
no exception. Maybe one day they'll get it right. If anyone else is
having issues with Intellipoint 6 please post about it.

Hello, I've built a data entry form for a survey database that appears to make the entire form flicker when I mouse over anyn of the label controls. I suspect that it has to do with the standard hyperlink function embedded all label control, even though I am not using it. The refresh/redraw flicker is quite annoying and distracting, making data entry on a tablet difficult for the user.

If you develop for others, you probably have multiple versions of Access installed so you can edit and create MDEs for clients in different versions. This works fine under Windows XP, even with Access 2007 installed. It does *not* work under Windows Vista Ultimate. After running Access 2007, when you open an earlier version of Access, no code works, because the references are fouled up. And Access 97 does not work at all. Access should...

Hello - This is my first posting to this group, so please bear with me. Also note, that while I'm intelligent, databases are not in my field of knowledge. I'm working with a small limousine company. They presently have about 4 networked computers, all running Windows XP (w/SP2) and Microsoft Office 2000 (specifically Access 2000) - and a plain jane p3 server also running Windows XP (w/sp2) with Office 2000 loaded onto it. I'm experiencing the following intermittent problem with Access 2003 (Access 2000 file format) under Vista. Sometimes when I close a database by closing the database window I get the following unhelpful generic message: "Microsoft Access has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program. The problem sometimes occurs when doing a compact and repair also. One particular database gives...

I am looking for assistance with an issue I am gettting with an Access2k application. When I have xp style switched on, switching from screen to screen causes the first screen to resize to it's 'restore' size before the second screen appears. This causes a 'flicker' affect on the screen. Any suggestions? Kind Regards Tim Allard

Hello Everyone, I'm having some very weird behavior on a couple of Access forms. (Not all forms, just some of them). The forms have been working for years, under Access XP/2003 etc, and last week upgraded from Windows XP/Office 2003 to Vista x64/Office 2007. Under Access 2007, a couple of forms are now taking 60 seconds to

Hi all, So I bought a new laptop 10 days ago to test my apps with Vista. (home premium) Apparently Office 2007 is pre-installed. (a time limited but complete test version, no SP1) So I take the opportunity to test some new features of Access2007 before actually 'stepping over'. First thing that troubles me of course is 'the ribbon', but my question now is about speed. I opened one of my Access 2000-apps in Access 2007. Speed and...

I'm in the progress of upgrading from Access 97 to Access 2003. I've read about some of the bugs introduced by Office Service Pack 3: http://allenbrowne.com/bug-Access2003SP3.html I've also seen the KB945674 hotfix: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/945674 Does SP3 cause more problems than it solves? Would I be better off installing SP2 (and not SP3) or installing SP3 along with the hotfix?

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
