Output of a crosstab into a Memo field

My quandary is this.....

I have a label application (Bartender) that I have hooked up to Access,
to use the output of a cross tab.

I've succeeded in getting the data within Access, but my problem lies
with my getting the output of the crosstab into one field in the label
template.

Basically, my crosstab of cloth sizes and quantities, which could be in
size buckets of varying definitions eg;

S, M, L, XL or
8, 10, 12, 14 or
2-3, 3-4, 4-5 etc etc

The label application only recognises individual fields of the
datasource and doesn't have the functionality to act like a report/sub
report (which is ideally what I really want!).
The number of fields may not be consistent each time it's run!

I'm thinking I ought to loop through the querydef to get the field
names, then loop through a recordset and build a string of the entire
query output, and dump it into a Memo field.

Has anyone had to do anything like this before, or offer up suggestions
for better way...?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

Phil

I don't think there's anything wrong with what you're proposing except for
the "dump it into a Memo field" bit. Just concatenate at run-time using a
query. <pun alert Hope you get it licked.

Keith.

Just re-read my post and I missed something out which may be relevant;

My Xtab query may have several rows along the lines of;

Style Colour S M L XL XXL
ABC RED 1 2 2 1 1
ABC BLUE 1 2 2 1 1
ABC GRN 1 1 2 2 1

I'm looking to re-build that in it'sentirety as a string!!
I'm thinking it's going to be awfully nasty with a liberal sprinkling
of vbTab's and vbCrLf's dotted around

:-(

Hi, I have a button on a form that outputs a report to word. While it has been working well for a while, today it is not. The behaviour now is that it endlessly outputs pages to word. There are just 63 records (report pages) to output....I hit cancel when the counter was in the 10'000 range. Here is my code....any ideas??

Initially, I was averaging the expectation, along with the productivity, but what I'm being asked is to look at the average productivity/performance compared to...

A client showed me this one. In a totals query that counts items and links to a parent record, what should be the output from a memo field shows up as Chinese characters - I kid not. He has a parent record that contains some base info, date etc and a Memo field for notes. In a related table are details of items. He wanted to count the items for a particular header record so linked the two tables on the id and in the query grouped on...

I have a report that is based upon a crosstab query which return only the columns (fields) it has data for. When my report runs it sometimes fails because some of the text boxes don't have a field in the query. I've written some code to "fake" the missing field names which works perfectly but is quite complex and I'm wondering if there's a simple light bulb shining somewhere that I'm missing. The field names returned by the crosstab are...

Hello, I'm looking for a way to parse/format a memo field within a report. The Access 2000 database (application) has an equipment table that holds a memo field. Within the report, the memo field is printed within the detailed area. The problem is, the apllication is not setup properly, thus the users are entering data within the memo field as: location1 1/1/2005 1/1/2006

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
