Access Update Query Help

Hi Guys,

I was wondering if someone could help me with an access query.

I basicallly have two tables A & B

Im table A there are numerous records with Fields1 & fields 2

I want to use table B to update table A. Bascically i need to compare
table A & Table B - if records exist in Table B that are not in Table A
then i need to update table A with the appropriate records.

any help appreciated

Thanks

C

Why the redundancy? If you have exactly the same data in B as A there is no
need for B.
That being said, and if you insist, I believe you can create an Unmatched B
in A query and make it an update query to A.

Helpful folks, Most of my previous experience with DB2 was on s390 mainframe systems and the optimizer on this platform always seemed very predictable and consistent. Since moving to a WinNT/UDB 7.2 environment, the choices the optimizer makes often seem flaky. But this last example really floored me. I was hoping someone could explain why I get worse response time when the optimizer uses two indexes, than when it uses one. Some context:

Hi: As those who have looked at this newsgroup recently will realize, I am a neophyte with Access, although I have experienced with Approach (the Lotus product). There are things I could easily do in Approach that appear to require some subtle and complex manipulation in Access. Herein lies my present problem. I have a number of tables, including one called "tblPO", which contains purchase orders. Some of the details of these change...

Hi All, This is what I want to do: 1. Build a database in Access with certain queries and a query form. (DONE). 2. I now need to use the same form as a form in VB, this will be the front page and will additionally have the following functions on it: Print, Save (CSV), Import (CSV). 3. On top of that the program will function - solely as a stand-alone program. I want to be able to modify the fields from within Access and for

Hi All - I have a client for whom I developed an Access 2000 database. The database is split into 2 files - front-end (forms, queries, reports), and back-end (tables). An .mde file has been made for the front end file. Recently, they have been noticing some "problems" with the system. Basically this system creates invoices for their customers. They have been noticing that some of the invoices are now "wrong", specifically

Hello, I'm in the process of changing our 'normal' Access 2000 update queries to Update Pass Through Queries. We have a SQL server 2000 database and we're using an Access 2000 database as our front end. In the criteria of one of our update query fields, we use both the isnull(field1) and Not IsNull(field2) then Field3, otherwise, set the updated field as null. Here's my converted Pass Through Query : UPDATE Vsel SET VSel.Cert1 =...

Hi all, I have an Access db with two large tables - 3,100,000 (tblA) and 7,000 (tblB) records. I created a select query using Inner Join by partial matching two fields (X from tblA and Y from tblB). The size of the db is about 200MBs. Now my issue is, the query has been running for over 3 hours already - I have no idea when it will end. I am using Access 2003. Are there ways to improve the speed performance? (Also, would the...

Hi, I'm trying to use an update query to update a checkbox field in access 97. In the update query design I am indicating in criteria: =true When I run the update query, a message box appears saying "You are about to update xxx records. .... Are you sure you want to update these?" to which I click yes. However, when I check the table, none of the checkboxes have been updated - they are all still empty.

Hi, I'm trying to make a very simple update statement (in Oracle) in jet sql that seems much more difficult than it should be. The root of my problem is that I'm trying to update a field on a table using dmax, which references another query to update the table. Although I have all of the correct keys from the physical table joined to the query in the dmax function, the code/ms access seems to ignore the joins. As a result, all payees...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
