Subforms and Search Function

Hi,

There are two sections to the form that I am creating. In the top
section, I have the fields that I want the users to be able to update.
In the bottom section (subform), I have all the records listed in the
datasheet view. These records are locked so that users can't manipulate
them at all, only view them.

1.) Since the record source in both the main form and subform are the
same, I know I can link them using any of the fields. If a user
accesses one of the records in the main form, is there a way to show
that record and all the records before and after in the subform
Datasheet view in the bottom half of my form?

2.) I want to create a search function for my users because there will
be approximately 40,000 records in this database. I have figured out
how to create a query that takes input from the user and produces the
results. How can I take that query and apply it to the record source
for my form so that when I search for *bank*, my form will populate with
all records that contain the word bank in them?

If anyone has insight on these two problems, I would greatly appreciate
it. Please let me know if anything is unclear and I can clarify.
Thanks for all the help.

I want to add an Accessible search function to our website - the only way I can do this is to find a search system that can return its results as an XML document. I am currently using FreeFind.com which is a great search system but only returns the data in HTML (really old HTML too). Another one I have found is FusioBot - this DOES return XML but I have no way of being able to exculde parts of the page (eg the navigation - I don't...

Hi, I have written a function that searches a text string for various words. The text is searched using a boolean 'and' or a boolean 'or' of the input list of search terms. Since I need to use this function for many long strings and many search words, I would like to use as efficient a method as possible. Are there improvements that can be made to the code below? Are there better alternatives?

Hi Folks, I have a VB app, and I have been working at it for a while, and I am now at the stage where I want to create a search function. Now don't be scared! It is in the .Net compact framework, and uses SQL Server CE as the database (This seems to scare off people trying to help! lol) but the connection and reading of data etc is all handled, and I think it is going to be a "relatively" simple function. My database has a number of fields...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
