Electronic Data Interchange

I found only five small threads discussing Access and EDI and none of
them were very recent. Is anyone interfacing with EDI using Access?
Can anyone recommend a book that would explain the basics of EDI?
This is all driven by a potential customer that requires EDI
capability.

Hank,

I have information relating to the Tradanet EDI network offered by Global
Exchange which is very specific to the Tradacoms standard.

If this is of any use, let me know and I can mail it to you as its quite
lengthy.

All current EDI development uses XML. You will find lots
of information about Access and XML. The only other thing
you need to know about EDI is that 'EDI' implies the existence
of a standard. If you have a potential customer using 'EDI',
that means you have a potential customer using an EDI standard.
You need to identify the standard, and do research on that
standard.

I do lots of Electronic Data Interchange using Access. It's
not called EDI because it uses proprietary formats and open
channels. EDI was a buzzword that implied formal standards
and private channels.

Welcome As suggested i looked into JSON project and was amazed but... What about cyclical data structures - anybody was faced it in some project ? Is there any satisactional recomendation... PS i am ready to use JSON as data/object interchange when using AJAX and my J2EE project - because it is easier to traverse the JavaScript object than its XML representation (so of course may argue).

Hi All, I was wondering if any one can point me in the direction of some web resource that fulfills the information I am looking for. Basically, I need some hard evidence of how XML schema and instances documents can be used to effect data interchange within a large enterprise. The powers that be will not take it for granted that xml is the way to go so I need to gather some convincing evidence to support my case. Any pointers on...

I am looking for electronic forms software that would integrate well with MS Access. I have a client for whom I built a client database to replace and update one they had that was obsolete and not doing what they want. They are wanting to move on to the next step and automate most of their forms. some are boilerplate forms that are simple printed without change. some are boilerplate but require signatures from client and rep. Others...

I'm really struggling with deciding on the best way to approach my particular website design scenario. Most tutorials and samples assume an sql backend database. What I have is a proprietary database (which I'm stuck with) that I communicate with via a dll which expects requests in xml and returns the data back in xml. I've initially created a generic data access class that has 2 string parameters containing the dll method to call and...

I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a simple way to convert a Data Interchange Format (.dif) file (see:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Data_Interchange_Format) into a dataset using the native ADO.Net tools. I noticed that the format seems to be handled by excel, but I have not found a way to open the file using any of the ADO.net APIs..? Thanks for any ideas..? Kurt

Hey All, Sorry to post to several groups but wasn't sure which development group would be best for the question. I was wondering if there are any developers out there that have significant electronic discovery experience and are familiar with the OutIndex E-Discovery tool? If so, I was wondering if there are any good competing tools and,

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
