Relinking to a back-end table in code with "Full Data User" group permissions.

Rob
I need to allow a user with the default "Full Data User" permissions
on the front-end database to relink to a table in a backend to which
he has the same permissions.
(I'd like to do read, update, insert, delete, which are the DEFAULTS
for a "Full data user", but just so you know I have also added
"Administra tor" for this group in front and backends, just to try and
figure out the problem and it didn't help).

Anyway I cycle through the tabledefs and when I find the correct one

The code (from memory) does something like this.

if td.Name = "TablenameImLoo kinFor" then

td.Connect = ";Database= " & "the new string to the backend"
td.RefreshLink

endif

This works FINE in 'unsecured' databases or if the user is in the
Admins group of these 'secured' databases.
Unfortunately, anyone in the 'Full data users' group has the code fail
on the "RefreshLin k"
THe error is (again, from my memory):

Cannot create; No Modify Design Permissions on table or query
'TMP%#MAU@'

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Rob

Hi, Does anyone know of an asp script, online somewhere, that I can use to find out the permissions of a folder? My ISP says these folders have full permissions, but my programs say "permission denied". I don't know if it is the programming, or if the folder don't really have the right permissions. Thanks! JA

Our next meeting will take place shortly and the "official" announcement is attached below. If you would like more information about our group then don't hesitate to drop me a line on teamdba@scotdb.com. We have tried to put together an interesting agenda which will give a useful day to both LUW and z/OS users. While traditionally our group has been "mainframe oriented", over the last year or so we have managed to build up a good LUW...

I can retrieve all the group members using the "memberof" property but I can't get the Primary Group Name. The only thing I get back is the "primarygroupid." How do you get the primary group name? I'm using C# and DirectoryServices Class and LDAP to access the Win 2k active directory. Thanks in advance....

I'm building a page in vb.net with several user controls on it. I'm using user controls instead of a frames page since I've seen this recommended many times in this user group. I want just one of the user controls to do a postback but not the rest of the page. Is this possible? it seems like it should be. If it is, please explain how I can do it. Thanks. -- moondaddy@nospam.com

I've been visiting Portland, OR on a multi-week client project, and am wondering if there are any local Python or Zope programmers in the Portland area. I am only going to be here for a couple more weeks, and the client is getting nervous about whether there are any Python/Zope programmers in the local area, because they are thinking seriously of hiring internal staff to manage their app. They have a fairly large web app that uses Zope...

Hi, I'm trying to make a php message board on our company's Intranet that can only be edited by a specific user group. The group "writers" is managed in active directory. Is it possible to automatically check if the user that is logged in to windows and is watching the site is a part of the group "writers"? And if that user is a part of writers then an "Edit" button would be displayed on the site. The intranet site runs on Apache 2.2

Once again on the db I have inherited... I have read numerous posts about how to set up security in access and have printed out the step by step instructions I found a link for from another post and will try it. My question is, I have inherited a MS 2003 db that had user groups and users set up, I have found the .mdw file and can get the user names but not the passwords. They are not written down anywhere that I can find. This db...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
