Locked out from MS Access database

Hi All:

Our company has been using a ms access 2000 database on a share drive,
every user logs into the database using shortcut on individual desktop
that goes to shared drive.

Now today while making changes to the security ->User & Groups, my PC
froze and when I restarted it says "You do not have permission to
access this, Contact your administrator". I deleted the .ldb file,
with no luck.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Download the Security FAQ from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads -- it's
the authoritative source for Access security information. Unfortunately, it
is easy to slip up and make your database so secure that even you cannot get
in (as seems to be the case here) or so insecure that most anyone can get
in.

That's why it is such a great idea to make a backup (maybe even a couple of
backups) of both the database and the associated workgroup file before you
start making changes.

We've got users sharing a database where the front end apps reside on the local PC while the backend app is on the network. We have repeated problems where certain users lock the database causing other users to get the Run-time error , currently locked by user 'admin' on machine 'xyz' when trying to log into the database. The users have a "/runtime" command on the property of their desktop. Can you clarify how the runtime works? My...

I have created a database for a client and was told that it was to be a one-user database. Well, you know the next statement ... now they want 3 people to be able to use the database. (FYI, I have never created a database for multiusers. I've done some searching but not finding what I want.) I have split the database. In Tools, Options, I have set the following: Default open mode = Shared Default record locking = Edited Record

Hi, I wrote a VB6 program to read some data records from a Ms Access database and to write them into a SQL server database.(I use Ms Access 2000 and SQL server 2000).After reading each record in Access database, I update a text type datafield of that record in Access database to 'Y' (to mark the perticular record as a copied record)(The program does the updation). I tested the program several times by using a seperate copy of the same database...

First, a brief explanation of why this has happened. I purchased, what I thought, was a fully functional program written in Access last year from a local programmer. This program was to be used as my POS for an online DVD store. It turns out that what the programmer actually gave me was a "license" to use his software. This was not the agreement we made, and he knows this. He took advantage of the fact that I knew very little about...

Good afternoon all, I have recently been trying my hand out at the ADO model as before I have only used DAO (just thought I would expand my knowledge a bit). The problem I am having is that while I am executing and debugging code, my database keeps getting put into a locked state and I cannot seem to get it out of this state without closing MS Access and reopening it (and this doesn't seem to always work either). I used to have this...

Hi This is a "problem" I've been battling for many days and haven't been able to understand; various postings I've come across on the Internet seem to not quite provide the answer. We have a commercial (membership database) application written around Access 2002 and we are using Access 2003 to run it on Server 2003 (64 bit), and 32 bit XP Pro. The database file is locked in some way so that it can't be opened within Access, even when using...

I have 2 users who ran into a problem with a data entry program (written in Access 2003). One user was keying into one of the forms when she got the message "ACCESS Error Number: 3218 Could not update; currently locked'. About the same time, another user was keying records into a 2nd form. Even though they were on different forms, they would have added records to the same table. The 2nd user had tried to add about 28 records, the...

I have a db table that holds a list of ports. There is a column in_use that is used as a flag for whether the port is currently in use. When choosing a port the table is read and the first available port with in_use = 0 is used, updated to in_use = 1, used, then updated to in_use = 0. I am using MySQLdb and want to make sure I am locking the table when doing reads, writes, updates since there will be several instances of my program...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
