Does anyone print their own shipping labels?

Hi.

Sorry, but I don't know where else to ask. I wrote a access shipping
database and we currently use the web interface for DHL to print shipping
labels. That means we have to manualy transpose shipto info to the DHL web
interface to print the 8 x 11 labels. We ship between 0 and 20 packages a
day.

If I get DHL pinfeed DHL shipping labels and a matrix printer, can I just
print the labels directly from my database instead of dealing with the DHL
web interface? I talked to the DHL pickup person and he said they tear off
the back copy for us at pick up for our receipt. I have a bar code reader
and as long as I get the tracking number from the label back into the
database, I should be all set?

It would save LOTS of time and LESS ERRORS to simply press a button and have
my software print the labels on preloaded matrix printer.

Anyone else doing this? Any issues or tips? Does DHL have any restrictions?
I called DHL and all I get is customer service who does not have a clue.

Thanks.

So the only barcode is preprinted? Then sure, why not? I'm sure there are
thousands of outfits doing exactly that. After all by definition if DHL are going to
give you pinfeed shipping labels then they are indeed designed for dot matrix
printers for the customer to use.

If the tracking numbers are sequential you may just need to increment it by one each
time you print. Along with some logic to allow you to change the next available
number and to renumber some table where the shipping personnel didn't realize the
label didn't exactly match the computer.

Go for it. Just make sure the shipping folks have lots of spare ribbons. Never let
them get too faded.

Oh, and Okidata are the standard heavy duty dot matrix printer mfr. I dunno if you
can even get anything different these days.

Thanks,

I found an old NEC pinwriter P9X to test with! Thanks. We lease small
equipment short term and include a return waybill shipping label that is the
pinfeed type which dhl supplied with our address as the "to" address. We
have to manual write in the leasers address as the from address so they can
use it to return our equipment. I'll test with these and go from there...
Thanks for some feedback.

Hi I am working on implementing this script to shopping cart. Basically, it copies fill the shipping address from billing automatically. I believe one or more syntax is not netscape compatible. Can anyone point out which one it is and how to make it both netscape and MS browser compatible? I hope if I can make the script compatible for those two at extreme, it will probably work with most browser out there. As you would notice, this form...

Everyone on this group has been a great deal of help. I have another question that I could use some help with. Once again, here is a picture of my form: http://www.chadworld.com/images/form.jpg I have a form with a shipment destination at the top. I then have a subform that I enter boxes for that shipment. I have several shipments going at a time, so I can use the control at the bottom of the form to move from shipment to shipment...

I am trying to print some 2x6 labels on a SATO CL408e thermal label printer. The 2x6 labels are arranged in "landscape" mode with 2 labels per "sheet." When I attempt to print "x" copies of a 1 page label document, I get "x" formfeeds and "x" wasted labels. Is there any way to manipulate the .NET printing engine to do a over-under 2-up landscape printing? I'm thinking no, but maybe there's a way. The printer has the ability to sense the...

Is there a way that a user can set the position for a single label to print within an Access Label report? I guess I would like something like what is available in Word where the user can select the column and row position for the single label to be printed. I would like to be able to provide a form where the user selects the column and row position for the single label or default to the top left label. For example, the size of the labels...

Upon entering the site www.FutureByDesign-Music.com with IE6, my clipboard is erased and then disabled in all other Windows XP applications. Navigating to another site returns clipboard functionality, but whatever was on the clipboard before is lost. If I disable running JavaScript on the page, the clipboard is unaffected. Viewing the page in Firefox does not have this issue. I think it might be the script below, which makes no sense...

XML seems to be a hot technology buzzword. And it appears XML is supported in A2003. I am wondering if it could be used in the following scenario. I create an order record for the customer. This customer is one I do a lot of business with. I could create an email to send him a copy of the order. A more preferable approach would be to transfer to the customer the order and order items parts which could then be imported/used to update...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
