Odd behavior in A2K Form! Help!

Hi Folks,

I have an Access 2K form that includes a normally hidden subform
linked in the normal way. For many months it ran perfectly and it
still does except for one thing -- when we switch to datasheet view,
the subform is expanded and visible for every record even if the
subform was invisible at the moment of the view switch. This just
recently started happening and I am clueless about why.

Anyone have advice on this phenomena?

All responses appreciated.

Thanks.

Changing the view of something that is not visible? Sounds unusual. How are
you doing that? What line of code? It would be interesting to see what is
making it visible. Is the subform control's Visible property altered after
your code runs?

Whatever table the subform is bound to, you could try opening it in deisgn
view and setting its SubdatasheetNam e property to:
[None]
in the Properties box. That may prevent the "expansion" you mentioned.

"Visible for every record"? Does this mean the subform control is losing its
LinkMasterField/LinkChildField properties? Or does it mean the subform is
losing a filter? There are several bugs associated with filters that can see
a subform displaying all records.

If you don't have Service Pack 3 for Access 2000, it would be worth
downloading it from support.microso ft.com.

Allen, thanks very much for your prompt response. I figured out the
problem. During a design session, I accidentally clicked the
"Subdatashe et Expanded" property of the parent form and set it to YES
without realizing it. As soon as I set it back to NO, it started
behaving normally in datasheet view.

Hi, I'm not entirely sure this is the right group to ask this question, but I saw a similar one above, and the group's charter is not clear enough about it, so, here I go: ;) What is the standard behavior (if any) when the same name is attached to more than one field in a <form>? An example (that closely resembles the problem I'm working on) will be (this is a standard radio group without a default selected option): <form ...> <input...

Hi, I'm trying to have a MSN Messenger like form/app closing behavior. When I click on the X button, I only want the form to disappear and when I double-click on the notify icon or right-click on it and choose Open from the context menu, I want the form to reappear. For that, I got the point covered. Even when the form is minimize, the behavior is like MSN Messenger. But one problem arose. When I close the form (the first time), it...

Our ISP where we run the .NET app recently upgraded to 1.1 of the framework. When I run my app at the ISP...the...

I am experiencing some unexpected behavior with the Form Load event in a Windows application. Hopefully, someone can explain why this behavior is occurring. In my application, I have a form that I would like to show multiple times throughout the life of the application. The startup code for this form can be quite lengthy so I am hiding and showning the form (versus unloading and loading it). If I show the form non-modally (using the...

(I hope this isn't considered too far off-topic.) I work as a developer on a browser product found on handheld devices, and I'm trying to specify behavior for the browser to make it "as compatible as possible" with reference browsers (IE, Firefox, Opera, NS, etc??) when presented with HTML content containing form controls (input, textarea, select/option) in the absence of enclosing form element tags. Obviously in the absence of...

When entering data into a continuous form in A2003, if I click the "New Record" button on the navigation bar, the form scrolls and places the new record at the top of the details section ready for data entry. The data can then be entered in the usual manner. If I open the same database in A2007, the above happens, but as soon as I start to enter data in a field the form scrolls again and places the new record at the bottom of the...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
