Problems with Word, Word pad and Downloading Pdf Document

Could someone help!!
When I try to save a pdf document that has been sent to me by email, it saves as a word document!! This obviously means I can't read the document. All pdf's in my download file are showing as word documents. This really bugging me as I can't do anything with the documents. Also when I view a pdf there isn't any tool bar for me to save the file to my computer.

If anyone has any ideas it would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Caroline,

Are you using a free email service such as GMail or are you using a company email? It sounds like a Spam filter or Anti-Virus is stripping your files when they are downloaded.

Also what application platform are you using with your email? Web browser, Outlook, ect?

Hi many thanks for your reply, I use talk talk.net for email and no platform.
I did download odobe which seemed to fix the problem for a while but I have noticed that all the downloaded documents have changed back to word pad and anything that I download attachments is now a word document again?? very confused

Hmm,

I would venture to guess that it is some kind of Anti-Virus that is changing your PDF's because they have been downloaded from the internet. Are you familiar with extensions and do you know how to change them? If so try and change the .doc/.docx extension back to .pdf. See if it is can be opened and viewed after changing the extension.
