I have a Dell Vostro 1500 using Windows XP and Internet Explorer 8 with Norton 360 antivirus. SOME internet images do not show up. I do not have the X, just a white space on the screen where they should be. It is frequently the "search" box. For example, on ncl.com on the right it says "Find a Cruise". I see the destination, search from, search to, find the best deal and advanced search. There is a box after that that you click to do the actual search. I do not see this at all. If I tab through the other selections I will see the outline of a box that I can click and it works but I have to know it is there. On my.yahoo.com I have selected BBC news, front page, world news as an option. There is a picture with this but all I have is an empty box outlined in blue. On Today's HIghlights on Yahoo I do have pictures. There are other pictures that don't show up but it is hard to know when they are there since all I see is white but I do get the pointing finger if I move the mouse over the space.

I have scanned, defragged and run a cleanup program and reset the IE options to default.

Try a different browser (Firefox, Chrome, Opera, etc.) and see if you experience the same problem.

I tried Firefox and had the same problem. Also turned off the Norton Firewall and that didn't help. I am beginning to fear the problem is in XP.

I have discovered a new problem, probably related. I have a slide show program (ProShow Gold) that uses different patterns to transition from one slide to another. Now that does not show the whole slide but just a very small portion. It will transition across the whole slide but only shows a small portion at any one time. Is this related to the video card?
