Hello everyone,

I have a problem. I want to access the desktop of my Desktop PC(Windows XP) from my Laptop(Windows Vista Premium) and vice versa. But I cannot access the desktop even though I can access the "Shared Folders". I am using a crossover cable.

Thanks in advance.

re: Remote Desktop Conection

What exactly do you want to access? The data on your PCs Desktop? Or do you want to logon to your Laptop with the account of your desktop?

Greetings,

The problem is simple. Your computer's remote Desktop Connection Settings is disabled. To enable this, Right click My Computer -> propertise -> remote, then check the tick box 'Allow user to connect ...' under the 'Remote Desktop' tag. then apply, OK. I thought u got the answer.

re: Remote Desktop Conection

WinXP Pro's Remote desktop works just fine, as simply as VNC and is already installed.

Of course your friend's PC must be running WinXP Pro in order to act as the host.

If he is not running XP Pro then VNC is a viable alternative. TightVNC (freebie)

Otherwise, is your friend behind a router? If so, he needs to configure it to forward the port 3389 to the target (host) PC's IP.
