re: error in setup

If your CPU is showing hot then the CPU fan should be running extreemly fast. If it's not then fix it or replace it. If it is running properly then you may have a sensor problem on your MB that is showing a CPU overheat even when it's not.

Of course it could also be a problem with the CPU itself.

Post back and let us know how the fan is running.

re: error in setup

my fan is running properly ,and this message appeared after another message that contained(file ' asms'on windows xp professional service pack 2 CD is needed) and gave me textbox to write the place of this file
i changed the copy of windows but the same error happend
this problem happend after downloaded program and setup it ,during setup , suddenly my pc made restart more than one time by it self and still made that until i turned off power
when it made that ,i thought the problem come from MP and fan, so i removed fan and MP ,i didnot find the tempreture of MP is high and fan running properly
i returned every thing in it's place and tried to run it but it made restart in one time and in the second work but suddenly shutdown
i though to setup window to remove virus if there was
what can i do to fix this problem?
thanks

re: error in setup

Take the fan off of your cpu and clean any accumulated dust off of the heat sink / CPU and Fan. Use a can of compressed air (not a vacume) to clean it. After everything is clean try to restart your system.

After the post, press F8 to get boot options and start the system in safe mode. If windows starts and doesn't shut down, leave it running for awhile to see if it shuts down on you. If it's ok then try to do a normal restart.

You said that this problem happened after you downloaded a program and ran the setup? If that is true, what program was it? Where did you get the program?

re: error in setup

Just another thought: Is your Windows CD scratched by any chance? That might be the problem. To test that, you could try to borrow someones CD and use your own serial number. (Of course, if you have a OEM CD, that might be problematic. Also, if you use XP Home you can't use a XP Pro CD and vice versa.)
