Hello!
I have a trouble to connect two PC.
There are two PC and one switch (unmanaged). And thay are both have Wireless Internet through switch and obtain IP address automatically.
First PC, has two OS, Win 98 and Win XP, both on FAT. I installed application and work on PC started on WinXP. Computer name is PC1.
The other one, has Win XP (NTFS). Computer name is PC2.
Both belong to same workgroup.
And I make shared folder on PC1. I gave neeeded premmision from share folder tab. But I can not see cecurity tab.
I want to access that folder on PC1 from PC2.
But, I can do it. Even I can not ping PC1 from PC2 (take IP address from Local Area Connection Properties Support card).
But, I can ping PC2 from PC1! And I can access every shared folder on PC2 from PC1.
What is the problem?
I want to access shared folder on PC1 from PC2!
Please, help!
Best regards,
Lile

Can you ping anything from PC1 (or whichever one wasn't working)?

Lile Yes. My friend, Motoma, was asking, and I'll stress:
"Can you ping anything/anywhere from PC1 (or whichever one wasn't working)?"
If DNS is working, you should be able to ping "google.com" and also the name of the other computer on the network (not the IP address).

Does your wireless router have any port-forwarding options enabled?

Hi Guys,
I'm also having some similar problem. I have two PC's(XP Pro) and a Server(XP Pro) connected using an unmanaged switch. From PC1 it is possible to ping the Server, and it is also possible from PC2 to ping the server.
But the problem comes is that, i cannot ping from PC1 to PC2. I have checked, windows firewall is disabled. I'm using Avast AV .
I can ping both the PC's from the server also.
The Ip address are as follows
PC1: 192.168.100.2
subnet: 255.255.255.0
PC2: 192.168.100.3
subnet: 255.255.255.0
Server: 192.168.100.1
subnet: 255.255.255.0
I hope someone can help me with it

Thanks and regards

Lile Probably not the AV, but very likely a Firewall setting. Routers have built-in firewalls that can be set to block traffic and so do each of your computers.
