Hi. Looking for any help I can find!

I have a brand new server running Windows Server 2003,
Enterprise Edition with SP1 . I just installed the
first program on the server of SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition. In
the system event viewer log I have the following errors:

Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.MFCLOC could not be found and Last
Error was The referenced assembly is not installed on your system.

After looking around my self I found that some people are saying "VC80.MFCLOC" to be caused by neglecting to install 2.0 Framework on the machine.

I would give that a shot.

I am not 100% but it sounds like VC80 maybe missing.. I am not sure of what this file is… Id just the following with Frameworks if no luck there maybe try re-installing?

Id also like to say you can not go wrong starting off with all windows updates and any SQL service packs..

Good Luck

Yes, Yes, Yes , the Visual C++ Redistributable Package solved the same problem in XP Pro. I first updated .NET with the latest servicepac then downloaded the above Redistributable. S O L V E D the problem.

That sounds like the solution. Well done.

I would just add that before applying updates generally, I would update the server to 2003 SP2.
