I know it's probably just a setting. We have Internet Explorer 7 and are running Windows XP. When I noticed the background color was missing, I was searching the internet and saving different .gif files that I had intended on using as part of a web site I am building.
I have tried restoring the system to a previous date, but was told that there had been no changes to the system.
Any ideas on what happened, or what I can do to get the background color back would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have done this and nothing seems to happen. I also had a problem with large fonts on web pages I was browsing and was able to take care of them through the font settings (going from larger to medium or smaller), but the color setting would not change anything.
Can I use add/remove program to get rid of IE7, and if so, how do I reload it?

In Internet Explorer, click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.
On the General tab, click Accessibility.
Select the Ignore colors specified on webpages.
Then on the General tab, click colors.
Then: Knock yourself out

I am posting this well after the fact, but I believe the problem you are describing is related to the Display Tab-->Use High Contrast setting in the Accessibility Options Control Panel Applet. Uncheck this setting, apply and then try again.
This was the problem on a machine I recently 'fixed.'

OH MY GOD !!!! I have been living with this problems for three years!!!
I tried everything! Could not see colors and if hyperlinks were in white...forgedaboudit! Everybody thought I was crazy! Like I had two heads or something!
You have made my day! ( night) I unchecked the setting in the CP and actually watched all of the open pages add color right before my eyes!!!
I owe you one...next time you are in NE Ohio , call me for a free wine tour!
The Wine Taxi Lady
Wow! I'm soooo happy!
