Hi all.

Sorry if this is off-topic, but thescripts seems to be a good source of information and expertise, and Windows was the most relevant forum I could find here.

I have an old ARJ file from about ten years ago, which is password protected. I have forgotten the password years ago, and need to get the contents out. Can anyone suggest how it might be done? Or a more appropriate forum in which to raise the question?

TIA.

Why are all the Access 'Experts' posting in here today?

In answer to your question I don't know there is a way.
If I were in your position I'd try Googling to see what came up, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

(And I know you're mostly VBA - but you post enough in Access to be considered an expert there too)

Standalone VB6 is actually more my area, though I dabble in VBA a bit.
You're right though, I think I'll Google this one.

You're absolutely right - and I knew that - I just posted it wrong :(.

Thanks, I'll have a look. I did a search on Google and came up with quite a few sites to check out.

Further to this question - can anyone recommend, of the apparent multitude of options, what is a good way to go? In other words, of the numerous websites and software I've seen in searching, can anyone recommend one or two that actually work? I don't plan to spend any money if I can possibly avoid it, because I only ever expect to do this once.

People like to make money ,-) But if you want you can search for the programs on google and then install the trial version and find the registration code on www.astalavista.box.sk Just a suggestion =)

Good Luck!

Good Luck!

Thanks Cyberdyne, but I'll stick to trying to find something that really is free. I don't like to take the "back door" option.

Besides, a trial version is probably all I need - as I said, it's a definite one-off. I never use ARJ any more, anyway.
